Thomas François Cartier (1879-1943) - Lion, Sculpture - Art Deco - Zamac - First half 20th century

A decorative sculpture of a lion in a dynamic position, with an impressive mane modelling and a refined expression of power and authority. The dark patina of the figure contrasts with the sculpted base in imitation of rock, giving the whole the appearance of a representative salon object. The base bears the signature 'CARTIER'. The underside is smooth, with no other legible markings. Suitable for a representative interior, study or collection of decorative sculptures with animal themes. Condition is consistent with age, with no major visible damage in the photographs.
